Orange Bird of Paradise (Strelitzia reginae)
Similar to its cousin the White Bird of Paradise, the Orange Bird is an awesome way to bring tropical vibes to your space. Their leaves are smaller and more compact than the white bird, but when they bloom, their orange flowers make a dramatic statement.
The Orange Bird of Paradise can adapt to many light environments (including low light), but flourishes with bright, indirect light. They make an excellent patio plant in the spring and summer (don't leave it outside if temps at night drop below 50 degrees). They like their soil to stay moist, but never soggy. Give it a thorough watering when the top 2-3" of soil feel dry.
They are considered toxic and should be kept away from pets and small children.
