Spider Plants are an excellent choice if you're looking for a low maintenance, pet friendly plant. 

They like medium indirect light and watering when the top 50% of soil is dry. They can be a little sensitive to the salts in tap water, so using distilled or filtered water, or letting your water sit out overnight, will help it thrive.
